The start of a new month means a new batch of brand ratings have dropped. This month we’re focussing on handmade – brands that showcase the best artisan of and traditional crafts as well as those that reduce waste with creative recycling and upcycling. Read on to find out which awesome brands have caught our eye.
Our Favourite Newly-rated brands for March
KAYU
Handcrafted bags, hats, and accessories. KAYU commits to using natural materials such as straw, wood, and shells. It also partners with local artisans in the Philippines to produce its products.
E.L.V. Denim
E.L.V Denim take upcycling to a new level with their denim jeans and jackets. Each piece is made by joining two vintage pairs together, meaning every item is unique. We love their approach to tackling clothing waste, and the fact they make everything locally in East London. If you’re in London, you can even book an appointment to be measured up for a custom-fit pair.
All Blues
All Blues makes modern, stylish jewellery for men and women. Handcrafted in Stockholm from recycled Sterling Silver, the brand uses a limited-production model to minimise waste. This unisex ‘track’ bracelet is inspired by the tread of construction bulldozers.
Pippa Holt
Pippa Holt’s gorgeous kaftans are made in collaboration with a group of artisans in a remote part of Mexico. These are luxury items that take one month to make using naturally dyed cotton on a traditional backstrap loom. Pippa Holt goes beyond fairly trading with the garment makers. The brand provides better housing, school fees and healthy food, while supporting their traditional crafts.
